Seriously Good Team + Badass Robots ;) - Sr. Engineer Reflex Robotics Employee Review

Pros

Everyone that works at Reflex is very smart, hardworking, and genuinely motivated to make Reflex a household name. There is so much interesting work to be done, and it is... a lot of work. But its absolutely worth it. Everyone at the company is highly competent, fun, and unique. The company is run by very determined (but logical and reasonable people) who genuinely seem to care about the members of the team as individuals.

Cons

This is IMO more of a pro than a con but, the culture is very much to do whatever it takes to succeed (nothing illegal though haha). Ultimately I think this mentality is required for startups to succeed in the humanoid robot space because it is highly competitive, but if you don't like working *pretty* hard then I sincerely wouldn't apply.

Pros

Reflex is a relatively small team thats very talent dense. Every engineer here easily outputs the work of a ten-person team at other companies I’ve worked for. Because of this there is no bureaucracy, and we move super fast. Because I've been given high level of trusted and responsibility, I've gained years worth of career experience in a fraction of the time. Leadership is deeply technical and makes good engineering tradeoffs. I think Reflex has the best business approach out of all the robotics companies. The robot is already super low cost and highly capable. Management is hyper focused on maximizing customer value - no backflips or impressive dancing. Benefits are good. I can order food for lunch and dinner on the company doordash account. Really good healthcare plan (nice bc healthcare is super expensive in NYC).

Cons

A lot of work. Long hours. Company is very frugal (its impressive how much progress they have made relative to money spent), so you aren't going to get a luxury state of the art office campus. The CTO's chair and monitors are ones he had found on the loading dock. Travel is economy seats.
