Firstly, it is great to see that you are embracing the work from home flexibility while we prepare to move into our new workspace. We are excited to have our own space and are working hard to ensure it is fit for purpose. We look forward to seeing team members in the office very soon.
Before I address some of the other points you have raised, please know that if you want to discuss any of this in more detail, you are always welcome to come to me directly. In the meantime, I hope the below comments will help clarify a few things for you.
Regarding the discretionary bonus for 2022, this is something we hope to be able to pay our people consistently each year. Unfortunately this year we were unable to do so and appreciate, with this being the first time we have made this decision, it has come as a surprise and disappointment for some team members.
When it comes to share options, we have distributed this based on role family and tenure for each employee at Redkite. If there are any discrepancies between amounts for colleagues, both these factors should to be considered and then brought to the people team for any further clarification. It is likely tenure that is causing this difference described and I encourage you to review the ‘Index Ventures OptionPlan’ - whilst we’re not a venture backed business and elements of it don’t apply, it shows some of the high level logic behind option plans.
In relation to your observations around compensation, we take a range of factors into consideration to ensure it is an appropriate package for the different level of capability and performance each individual has. We appreciate this model isn’t as transparent as we would like, so we are working on improvements to make it more visible for our people. There are very strict criteria for off cycle reviews, which only take place as a result of exceptional performance.
Finally, we value each and every one of our colleagues and have setup our processes to recognise and reward our people based solely on work related factors. We hope that the work we are doing to improve our people processes and add more structure to the business will reassure you and the wider team of this.
