Pros
- Open culture on a global level, no dress code - Flat hierarchy(on paper) - You will meet great, talented, helpful people here - job security - Great place for people without any career aspiration and just want a stable job. - Good place to start your career, due to brand value
Cons
** UPDATE ** >> Benefits being cut down slowly(one at a time) in global level after IBM merger. *** THE REST OF THE REVIEW IS MOSTLY FOR PUNE, INDIA Support Delivery( AKA CEE)*** - The Pune support delivery has become from a *great place to be* (more than 5-6 years back) to a CALL CENTRE. CONS: - Micromanagement - Favouritism - Focus on quantity rather than quality - Dirty politics - Unorganised HR, hence poor talent acquisition - Interview/hiring process is not standardised - Overall slow appraisal cycle. (it is still a gray area) - Now it is not a place for people who has some career goal or aspiration - much much less compensation than market standard. - For products like OpenShift, OpenStack support is not at all equipped(with training/tools) to support enterprise customer. \ - Extremely poor management, most of them are really really bad people manager without any people skills. I have seen some common trait in managers(Pune/CEE) - most managers do not give a damn about associate's career development - Only interested in numbers - managers taking credit, promotion, international travels showcasing associates hard work - Discouraging to participate on Open Source conferences or projects within support org. - Push back from support management if one wants to pursue other career opportunities within organisation. Most of the great and talented people has left or leaving. It has now become a place full of incompetent people, who has just got really really comfortable. The problem is the company has scaled poorly, in last three years due to mass recruitment to achieve short term goals.
