The best place I've ever worked - Anonymous employee Reason Foundation Employee Review

Pros

If you're a libertarian, Reason is the best organization to help work for a cause you're passionate about. The "management" are all awesome and willing to listen to feedback. Work hours/location are flexible for almost all employees. Employees are smart, fun to work with, and dedicated. There is no "busy work." No micromanagement.

Cons

The benefits are terrible. In a sense, it's a good thing because more of the salary is cash-based, instead of being tied up in benefits. Also, it's a very unstructured environment. If you're used to having a boss tell you exactly what to do each and everyday, it's going to be a serious culture shift. Don't expect to get rich working here.

Pros

1. Very flexible schedule. People can work from home or work early/late as long as the work gets done. 2. The employees are fun and the office is usually laid back. 3. You get to promote liberty at your job!

Cons

1. Ridiculously low pay, even for a non-profit and there's not much room for growth. 2. The benefits are almost nonexistent. They don't match retirement and your healthcare deductible is so high that you won't hit it until it's the end of the year and starts over. 3. Management is disorganized.
