Pros

I have been working at the Lighthouse just over three years. Since our manager Gail came in, working here has gotten so much better. The staff really care for the young people here, always putting their needs first. The management team are amazing. The home feels like a home, always fun things and activities going on. I love working with the young people here and there’s always opportunities to up your knowledge with training. There’s a lot of training on attachment and bonding, here I got my level 3 safeguarding too, also positive behaviour support training and many others. Management care about their staffs well-being too as they have lots of understanding. I highly recommend to anyone. Being able to work flexible hours has been great for me personally. I used to be full-time, now I’m bank.

Cons

Pay has gotten better, but still not enough, I don’t believe that’s the company’s fault as each year we have gotten a little more. Sometimes the hours can be long if you’re on a long day, although long days are optional which is good (7am-10pm). It can difficult to establish a routine outside of work due to the shift patterns (7am-2pm or 1pm-10pm).

Pros

Small family company which places the young people at the centre of everything they do. Senior managers are supportive and although the role is challenging it's enjoyable in so many ways. Young people are supported to develop and progress in all areas of their lives and you can see that the teams genuinely care about their experiences. Lots of overtime available and staff are treated well by the company. Opportunity to progress and develop skills and knowledge in all roles.

Cons

There are none that I can think of
