Pros

The interview sure made things seem great. (Wasn't a reality, unfortunately.) I enjoyed working with the prospects & clients a lot which made the sales process even more enjoyable.

Cons

Interview went great & the manager was visibly excited to bring me on. At that point, I had over 20 years of professional experience & growth, had previously earned my way into leadership (laid off during start of covid) and had many wonderful, hard-earned references. Upon coming onboard, I found the job itself to be incredibly simple & picked it up quickly. (I did not express how easy the work was & ensured I was engaged.) My manager kept acting as if it was a difficult role & that the training would be intense but it wasn't, most likely because we both knew I was overqualified & used to very intense, complex sales roles. I was able to quickly complete my work, take initiative on my task list without being prompted by her & could quickly connect with prospects. I had offered an occasional idea, in ways that were mindful of not "showing up the boss" but would also demonstrate value & dedication, which she liked at first, but later resented me for. As the days moved forward, she became more & more passive aggressive and irritable with me. I had a sales quota of selling 55% of units & all deposits collected, for the project to be able to move forward in starting construction. This quota was to be met within a few months. I sold around 60%+ of units in 3 weeks. At the end of that 3rd week, my manager came to me with HR on the phone after she'd been reporting awful things about me to the corporate office & fired me. The HR person was very kind but the manager was unbelievably awful to me as soon as HR hung up the phone. She started yelling at me to get my things collected, watched me do it, then pushed me out the door, slammed it shut and locked it. Mind you, I am a very professional & polite blonde lady who weighed all of 120 lbs, at the time. I had never been fired, never been in trouble, never had a manager even disappointed in me, and never underperformed. I also had NEVER ever been hostile or threatening to anyone before & never been even considered as being like that. On top of it all, I was NOT PAID A SINGLE DIME of my EARNED commissions. I haven't experienced such an extreme, unwarranted amount of disrespect & outright cruelty in my life before, or since. I'm pretty sure she got away with telling the corporate office that she was the one to sell those units & she likely collected the commissions I worked hard for....and DESPERATELY needed since I'm a single mom of 2, who were only ages 9 & 11 at that time. And, she got away with slander, false accusations & with tarnishing my reputation with a company I aspired to work hard for, growth with & stay with long term, because of a personal vendetta. I've often wondered if they really didn't know the truth or if the entire company operates this way & if I should at least reach out and try. She'd made it clear to me that she'd been with the company for years and had the control & I was utterly humiliated, shamed and had my head spinning wondering what the heck just happened, so I didn't. (It makes sense now why she was so insistent that I not get to speak with anyone at corporate directly.) I'm sure other locations have lovely staff; at least I'm hoping. I was in the Kansas City Metro (Kansas side) in Joco.
