Pros

One of the standout pros of working at Razor is the fantastic team on the ground. The team here are incredibly hard-working and consistently demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork. They're always willing to chip in and help each other out, making it a pleasure to collaborate and work together to achieve goals. At Razor, you can expect to be engaged in projects that are not only technically challenging but also intellectually stimulating. This is a wonderful place to further develop your skills and take on complex, innovative projects. The customers at Razor are also a real highlight. They are appreciative of the hard work and dedication put into their projects. It's gratifying to see the impact your work has on the customers, and their satisfaction is motivational. While the management and board may have their challenges, the work-life balance at Razor is good. There's a reasonable expectation of work hours, and it's rare to find yourself working overtime.

Cons

One of the key drawbacks is the limited visibility and leadership of the senior management and board. This lack of involvement and clear direction from top-level leadership leaves people feeling disconnected and uncertain about the company's future. The absence of strong leadership often translates into an unclear business direction. Without a well-defined strategy, we struggled to understand the company's long-term goals and how our contributions impact the larger picture. Career progression can also be a frustrating experience. The company lacks a structured approach to career development, making it difficult for employees to see a clear path to advancement. This can lead to feelings of stagnation and frustration. Without a strong focus on career progression and personal development, employees may find it challenging to acquire new skills and grow within the company outside of "learning on the job" on customer projects. The absence of clear leadership and direction results in a lack of clarity when it comes to understanding the structure and decision-making processes. This hinders efficient workflows and decision-making at all levels. Another significant challenge at Razor is the lack of clarity around remote working policies. While it is widely promoted by Razor's leadership that the best work happens in person, it's crucial to acknowledge that in many cases, this isn't the most productive way for all employees to work. It is essential for Razor to invest in optimising the use of remote tooling. Effective virtual communication is paramount for keeping remote teams well-informed and connected. Without clear guidelines and effective tools for online communication, there can be a lack of cohesion and a disconnect among remote team members, which can hinder productivity and collaboration. The need for regular virtual meetings cannot be overstated. While remote work allows for flexibility, it's equally crucial to create opportunities for virtual face-to-face interactions among team members. Scheduled virtual meetings can help bridge the gap between remote workers, fostering a sense of community, open dialogue, and real-time collaboration.
