Cons
CEO and COO are incredibly arrogant and poor leaders. The CEO prefers to manage employees via email, as opposed to having tough face to face conversations. COO is aloof, a poor communicator, and has no business managing any operations, much less people. CEO and COO have an openly contentious relationship, which spills over into the work environment and degrades morale. Constantly changing priorities and unclear instructions, usually due to poor planning and communication at the top. Most programs are rushed and always "on fire" leading to a stressful environment and lots of retrofit/rework. They brag about having a "flat" organizational style, which is really just code for "we have no real structure beyond an org chart." Travel ranges from 25 to 50%, depending on your role, and has burned out many engineers and technicians. (Some have quit because of travel demands.) Career development means sucking up to the owners on a daily basis to stay relevant and "in the loop." Questionable ethical behavior by the CEO and COO. They claim they only expect 40hrs from exempt employees, but that's a farce. If you're not working 50-60hrs a week, you're unlikely to be successful. No annual bonus metric; seems to be based on subjective metrics only the owners know. The owners have made it clear their plans are to grow the business as fast as they can and retire early, leaving your long-term future unclear. There's no such thing as "leaving on good terms" (CEO will slander you in meetings the first chance he gets).
Great place for anyone early in their career (recent college grads); you'll learn a lot. But mid to senior level engineers and technicians should steer clear. There are better run & organized defense companies in Albuquerque.
