You can do what you think will bring value and no one stops you from that. Learning and development are encouraged.

Cons

Managing MD's perceptions as they are heavily clouded by his friendships in the office and waver quite a lot based on how the revenue is going for the month. It's called a global scale-up but it operates very much like a mom-and-pop business. Lack of strategy, more focus on short-term wins. An unhealthy work-life balance is rewarded here.

Rare is a talented, creative studio with passionate people and an impressive legacy. There are genuinely supportive individuals across the business, and the broader Xbox ecosystem provides exciting opportunities. Many teams work hard to live the values around inclusion and collaboration.

Cons

The experience of psychological safety and empathy can vary significantly depending on individual management style. In some cases, performance processes appear to be prioritised over understanding context, particularly when someone is struggling. There can be a strong focus on delivery and standards, which is positive in many ways. However, without equal emphasis on curiosity and support, this can feel overly critical or process-heavy. For employees going through difficult periods personally or professionally, that distinction matters. When leaders default quickly to formal processes rather than open conversation, it can create unnecessary stress and erode confidence. The gap between stated values and lived experience is something the organisation could examine more closely.
