Pros

You will love (for the most part) the people that you work with. They cultivate a fun atmosphere. You have autonomy for the most part to make your position what you want. Free lunch Wednesdays, open PTO, and travel.

Cons

You will not get your bonus since the company hasn't hit plan since 2013. Marketing never hits team count goals but is never held accountable and the rest of the company suffers for it, even though many hit their goals and keep expenses in check. The investors and board of directors are private equity groups that are hyper focused on growth (rightly so, to increase their investment and sell position). Therefore, unattainable growth plans are put in place that are rarely achieved. Senior management is a "good ol' boys" club that only "yes men" are allowed in and paid well. Leadership doesn't allocate the necessary resources for systems, processes, and equipment necessary to support a high growth company. Most the company is using the same systems and platforms from their early days of pre-$1million revenue and a staff of 10 people. The board does not hold the CEO accountable for only hitting plan 2 times in his nearly 10 year tenure. CEO has replaced his entire leadership team at least 3 times due to under performance and fraud. He isn't held accountable for his inability to hire effective people in their positions or be effective in his. To his credit, he is a great sales person and has landed several large sponsorship deals. HIGH turnover, nearly the entire staff turns over every 2 years.

Pros

Large opportunity to learn a lot, with a ton of control in your own hands. The experience I gained from building and executing large events at Ragnar was invaluable. Company was always very supportive.

Cons

That same level of freedeom and responsibility could lead to anxiety, burnout, etc. At times, management also had a high workload, which made it hard to find someone to work with to ease those feelings of being overloaded.
