Pros
- Great Colleagues. Knowledgeable about their areas, happy to learn about new areas. - Supportive management. I onboarded from abroad remotely due to Covid19 and have received tremendous understanding and support. - Top-level management easily available and transparent in their feedback and managing of the business. Joining a new company and navigating new colleagues, process’s and procedures is always going to be a disruptive and anxious period for anyone, joining a new company while in the middle of emigrating compounds this experience exponentially already of course, but to do this all when a historical event like the Covid-19 pandemic is in full-swing can very easily place one into a state of fear, depression and anxiety like nothing felt before. This is the position I found myself in when I began my tenure with AIA Worldwide in April 2020, mere days after most countries went into a global lockdown and businesses were disrupted. I was pleasantly surprised and incredibly overwhelmed by the support I immediately received, not only from my new colleagues I would be working most closely with, but also from the very top of the proverbial ladder in terms of check-ins from the global CEO and UK Vice-President on how I was settling in and managing. It has been very helpful and equalising in the fact that the rest of my new co-workers are all working remotely as well, so we have all been placed in the same position in that regard. What is really impressed me, has been the immense support and speed of the company to ensure everyone was able to continue working comfortably with all the tools they needed – even shipping a laptop from the UK to South Africa for me. The constant support and optimism from the most senior-levels of the business has been organic and not forced, this has rubbed off on the team I personally work with and I believe, it has given our clients a level of calm in the storms they’re facing themselves. If this is how my tenure has started with AIA Worldwide, I am incredibly excited to continue this journey and see how my personal aspirations are achieved in this caring, yet professional environment.
Cons
5 months in and feeling very supported. Sometimes pace in my particular department can be demanding, however - this will ease up as we come out of Covid19 I guess.
