Pros

Smart, good co-workers, and interesting, challenging projects. Strong at ServiceNow implementations.

Cons

Shambolic management, no leadership to speak of. Consultants on-site are often left to their own devices. As they need to keep consultants on-site and billable, often people with wrong skills fit are sent out to clients anyway. Sales and accounts people like to push "RXP Lean Agile" with no real comprehension of what Agile entails. Projects are sometimes under-resourced, in order to secure winning bids. Some client sites are way out of the CBD area, which makes commute a major hassle. No "downtime plan" for consultants who are on the bench, which is waste of time and money for the company. No clear career path, and advancement depends on being mates with managers rather than actual achievement.

Pros

The pay was greater than the full-timers and were jealous. Improving client code to modern, testable standards.

Cons

Typical consultancy hire you based on excellent skills required to win over a client - "wow this person is great". Then lead you to a dead end contract whereby you don't gain any skills, it's actually a downgrade old code most the time as it's client based. The full timers leak reports back to management, keeping tabs but you never hear from them until you get the tap. The tap always comes for contractors. Full-timers code is seriously questioned. They work fast like a whipped horses so they're conditioned but produces horrible code bases and issues. You just learn to keep quiet and NEVER criticize - it gets leaked to management.
