Pros
Company is a DOD contractor and therefore they have an excellent long standing customer with near infinite demand. Due to this the position is very secure and there is plenty of room for lateral and linear promotions.
Cons
The job itself can be mundane, working with very archaic tools and systems, the massive code base can make getting things done very tedious and approvals have to go through a ton of legal red tape. Everything is within DOD standards so while the benefit structure is competitively average a very bright individual can certainly do better elsewhere.
