Pros

Working on your own. Thrilling. Very rewarding when catching someone red handed.

Cons

-Very little room for promotion/raises -Very strict and near impossible requirements for good reviews (your stats are based on the life of someone else, you cannot predict if they never leave their home) -Seems like they give good cases to the more veteran investigators. (personally i have had cases i get loads of video evidence just to have another investigator work it several times after and i never worked it again. this affects your stats for your review) on-call like schedule. you will never have an actual schedule. you are giving your schedule 6pm-9pm the night before. keep in mind work starts at 6-630am.

Pros

The relationships I make with my managers and coworkers aren't only because of positive results with cases but also based on who I am, how I treat my superiors, how i treat peers and contractors and even when it seems nothing is going right it's comforting and supportive when my case manager or even the investigation supervisor "gets it" and knows we do our best but we can take a moment and come back to it and do even better. Amazing support if you are National Guard or a Reservist. RJN knows how to work with you and your service to your country and helped me get through the past 2 years of working full time AND my obligations to my state and country.

Cons

When southern California heat comes, the job doesn't change. Sometimes extreme heat without a realistic way to cool down is part of the job. But let's not complain without saying how to fix it; like with most things sometimes a boss telling you "you are doing great despite the intense heat and harsh conditions" means more than an air conditioning and is extremely motivating. All I'd suggest is positive reinforcement on occasion.
