As a not-for-profit organization, the clients always come first. Excess budget money was always spent on them for new furniture and always met their needs.
Cons
Overtime can generally burn you out quickly. Home Managers have limited skills, and can ride you!

Thank you for your response. I agree with you, the people we support always come first. I see it everyday working in the corporate office. Every decision that is made has the people we support at the center.
The job is 8am to 5pm, but the hours are very flexible. The Care Manager must meet stated guidelines, Medicaid, and keep up with the members' services. Management is great!
Cons
It can get stressful when trying to make monthly contacts, and the members or guardians don't pick up.

Pros
Being a Direct Support Professional is a job that’s easy to obtain without experience which helps in an economic downturn
The amount of PTO accrued is nice.
Cons
No health insurance for 90 days and no ability to use PTO for 6 months after hire.
Only partial PTO payout if you worked more than a year for most years if you leave. You have to put in a 30 day notice if you want rehire status or your PTO payout if you’re exempt status.
Employees in all positions are burnt out and stressed out. If you’re not an hourly employee, expect long hours and weeks. If you’re hourly, expect pressure to work OT.
Turnover here seems worse than the company’s competitors.
Very little hands-on training. They shove a bunch of online modules in your face and send you out the door to shadow for a couple of days and that’s it.
