Pros

There’s a five word minimum Just kidding. - great look on your resume - major company - good health benefits (not great)

Cons

What an amazing way to absolutely dismantle any true belief system in RH. Worked for the hospitality side and it was hell on earth on that rooftop. “Leadership” playing favorites, “Leaders” lacking true care and responsibility for the associates and dismal communication. No real sense of accountability and the lack of effort to make changes is wild. It’s a tip pool people, a disgusting and atrociously run tip pool as well. Imagine the Leaders saying you’re supposed to have all the support in the world and they’re never to be found. Imagine working a 6 hour shift only to work 3 more hours of side work because the system deems that “no other location has or needs” something. Imagine making 3-4K in sales a shift, seeing 700-1100 in your tips and you not only need to wait till the end of payroll to see your actual tips, but when you get it, it’s only 30 percent of tips. And no breakdown of what you’re actually making. Great job for those who like to keep their head down and just work and be a cog in the system. Don’t get me started on the Mean Girl syndrome of those in “favor” with the leaders.

Pros

One of the strongest aspects of this role is the autonomy. I’m trusted to make decisions that genuinely support the customer experience without constant approval from leadership. If I believe an exchange plus a $250 gift card is the right solution to preserve a relationship, I’m empowered to do that. That level of trust creates confidence and allows us to move quickly when issues arise. Leadership is accessible when needed, especially in escalated situations. I’ve never felt left alone to manage something beyond my scope. There is also regular voluntary overtime available, which is a plus for those looking to increase their hours. For someone transitioning from another industry, the environment feels more structured and brand-focused, which has been refreshing

Cons

The clientele can be challenging. Some customers assume that spending thousands of dollars entitles them to treat frontline employees disrespectfully, even when those employees had no involvement in the original issue. It can also be frustrating to hold a boundary with a customer, only to see it reversed after escalation. While I understand the desire to preserve relationships, it can unintentionally undermine employee confidence and consistency in standards. Because RH carries so many collections and product variations, the learning curve is steep. Customers often expect immediate, detailed product knowledge, which takes time to develop.
