Pros

The only pro are your peers. The company lies during the interview process to hire talented people. Consequently you become closer with each other because everyone is going through the same hell.

Cons

I don't even know where to begin. It it sad seeing the turnover at RH because, as I mentioned above, the leadership team will lie and manipulate things during the interview process in order to hire promising people. Then once you are in the cult, there is absolutely no regard towards your growth within the company or as a professional in general. On the topic of leadership, you are trickle-down micromanaged by people who have no idea what they are doing but are somehow making a salary that is exponentially larger than that of the people that are actually selling design and pushing the poor quality product. If you work here, forget your name because to them you are just a number. Your value lies in the amount of money you bring in, subsequently creating a competitive workplace that values quantity over quality. This is also reflected in the compensation (or lack there of) given to employees. Don't expect to be paid what you are worth because that money has to go up up up towards the people that aren't on the front lines or doing any work at all, quite frankly. Don't worry- they will ask you for feedback. Then they will scold you for saying anything at all by turning the blame back around towards you. Don't expect to get anything but excuses. RH is a world of false promises and no work-life balance. Transparency is non-existent so good luck being treated like a professional adult. By the time you get out, it is too late and you will look back on your time there with regret.

Pros

One of the strongest aspects of this role is the autonomy. I’m trusted to make decisions that genuinely support the customer experience without constant approval from leadership. If I believe an exchange plus a $250 gift card is the right solution to preserve a relationship, I’m empowered to do that. That level of trust creates confidence and allows us to move quickly when issues arise. Leadership is accessible when needed, especially in escalated situations. I’ve never felt left alone to manage something beyond my scope. There is also regular voluntary overtime available, which is a plus for those looking to increase their hours. For someone transitioning from another industry, the environment feels more structured and brand-focused, which has been refreshing

Cons

The clientele can be challenging. Some customers assume that spending thousands of dollars entitles them to treat frontline employees disrespectfully, even when those employees had no involvement in the original issue. It can also be frustrating to hold a boundary with a customer, only to see it reversed after escalation. While I understand the desire to preserve relationships, it can unintentionally undermine employee confidence and consistency in standards. Because RH carries so many collections and product variations, the learning curve is steep. Customers often expect immediate, detailed product knowledge, which takes time to develop.
