Pros

1. Great place to start career as my team really guided me well and gave me more confidence in handling my role. 2. Had a pleasant time working with other teams as well, generally a helpful and cohesive working environment. 3. Quite a variety of projects to work on, exposure to different skill sets is quite good (But this depends on what department you are in)

Cons

Management (At least my department) is a big problem: 1. Too results-driven, too little emphasis on employee welfare. They see little value in nurturing and appreciating employees, and I feel undervalued for the efforts I put into my work. Sadly, even word of thanks from some managers doesn't even feel genuine. 2. No clear direction for projects: Plans keep changing (and can even change within the day itself), no clear KPI set, management wants MULTIPLE things accomplished at the same time but they are not on the ground enough to understand that some of their requests simply can't be done. Some managers have very bad sense of direction as what they want engineers to do wouldn't help to achieve the KPI. Anyway, there is no culture for upward feedback to managers on their performance from engineers, some of the managers couldn't care less.

Pros

- Cooperative and collaborative working level staff makes work more enjoyable. - Good to learn for a first job and to train tenacity.

Cons

Location is very deep in Tuas even with island wide company transport, do expect ~1 hour of travelling to office. Department level - High turnover rate - Firefighting with no time for improvement works - High expectations. (always required to start work 20 min ahead of time to complete task for daily morning meeting, high tendency to be questioned critically every morning if data is not prepared 15mins after start work hour) - Dismissal of employee effort. - Focus on employee shortcomings rather than solving the issue at hand - Workplace favoritism (Extra critical on non-favorite employee, extra lenient with favorite employee) - Unwilling to approve leave for non-favourite employee - Gaslighting (Accused of intentionally underperforming) Company level - Company tends to “Squeeze” employee to ensure production is smooth - Company provides little opportunity for learning of new skills, learning are mostly on job training. - Company direction tends to change on very short notice, leading to higher stress levels with the many changes and correction required in short notice. - Higher management seems to be promoting faster than working level staffs
