Pros
Security exposes you to many people from all walks of life and you very quickly learn how to adapt to communicate effectively and efficiently RCVS staff and clients are global and I regularly deal with people from all over the world and it makes it exciting and challenging.
Cons
I work under no/little supervision on a daily basis. I am responsible for completing my own workload and the security of the premises and people on site. I often have to show initiative especially when it comes to the safety of my colleagues. There have been occasions where I have had to think and react quickly; a fire alert which needed the building to be evacuated, a staff member fainting in front of me and myself needing to attend to her immediately and bomb alerts. On all occasions, I have had to make on the spot decisions and follow them through.
