Continuously Disappointing - Software Engineer R1 RCM Employee Review

Pros

Some segments of R1 are modern; however, a lot of parts of R1 are legacy code and outdated and never given enough time to improve. Additionally, the pay is average; however, your benefits will cost $10,000 at least so factor that in.

Cons

They just cut 25% of the engineering and product while saying it is in an effort to modernize- even though they just removed the ability to modernize capacity wise. There is so much toxic pressure from upper management on both product and engineers. Performance is not valued- speaking about pay increases; the only thing rewarded is years of experience. Because of this, a lot of the more senior engineers are not the best engineers, but the ones who were content enough to stay.

Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Cons

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
