Pros

Was able to work with a strong team of medical professionals, including physicians and case managers, and technical support personnel to provide real value to our client hospitals. This was a collegial and supportive work environment that was committed to providing (please excuse the well-worn phrase) "excellent service".

Cons

Changing forces in national health care policy lead to uncertainty about the company's future direction, due to need to revise its business model and diversify its offerings and its client base.

Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Cons

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
