      Pros

      I began my career at Accretive Health (now R1) and hated every aspect of the organization from the Management Team down to my colleagues. However, about the 3rd year of my employment i noticed that i started to really like the culture. As i became a subject matter expert and was in a position to make impactful change - i felt that people not only valued my opinion but also followed my direction. When i finally left - i felt sad.

      Cons

      Raw talent, lots of young people, can be frustrating to more experienced folks. If you are coming from a major corporation you may be unhappy

      Amazing work life balance and flexible hours with many projects to learn from

      Cons

      No promotions, and the yearly pay increase is basically the inflation rate

      The voluntary separation offer was good.

      I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
