Unfortunately for Qualitest, most of the perks of the job were Google perks, not Qualitest ones. The pay is insultingly bad, raises are almost non-existent, and no matter how hard you work, you won't get recognition for it (except for a $100-$200 gift card one time, which is a joke). I worked extremely hard the first year, but once I realized it was futile, kept up appearances and nothing changed. What a waste of my own talents.
Upper management are a married couple who frankly have no grasp of how to run a project. They are extremely disconnected from the reality we lived every day. They didn't even seem to know what we were doing within Google, they only cared about the dollar signs they saw coming their way. Typical corporate BS'ers with no regard for employees.
The project itself was cool, but you will be shut down if you try to build things for the team's benefit and try to make your job more than the snorefest it is. If you are a Software Engineer, stay far away, because you won't learn any useful skills and it will make finding a job after QT much harder.
To make matters worse, they ended the project by moving it to Portugal, Mexico, and Texas. At least they had the decency to give us a 6 month heads up, and promised that those who wanted a job elsewhere within QT could do so. I can count on one hand how many people kept a job within the company. A blatant lie.
