Pros

Flexible working time: you can work 3 days from the office and 2 days from home with also a full remote option which needs to be negotiated if you are not a dev. Strong Brand and Product: Brand perception is quite high as the product is well known in Europe

Cons

It’s a corporate and you need to adapt to their internal systems: you won’t be listened for your ideas, you need to understand and be adapting to their processes (which are changing every 6 months). If you will be joining to build or launch a new functionality, be prepped to say lot of yes to the team around you who will be at the company for several years. They won’t really care about you. But if you have other ideas they’ll go complaining to your manager. Disconnected Leadership: they say is a flat hierarchy when they hire you but only if you’re a individual contributor. Everything else is top down: from decision on teams rituals, to product features and go-to-market launches. Everything will be pushed by your manager and from their manager, vertically. Even if they don’t know, don’t expect you will be asked about how to do things. Bureaucratic layers: Leadership is not in those positions because they have real experience in their field but because they know how Qonto works. Don’t expect to learn and develop thanks to them, they only product or strategy or marketing directors whom before Qonto were on other careers paths. Micro-management: Middle management is all about micro-managing, focusing on tasks that serve their immediate needs rather than understanding and supporting the roles and responsibilities of their teams. Because they don’t know the skills needed in their jobs. High turnover: HR dept seem to know what they are doing but only because they are obeying to a structure system. They don’t know what do if employees are not aligning to their own predictions. As it’s top down also they don’t really care about long-term career development unless your “temp career goal” is aligning to a vacant role in a weak team. In that case boom; you are the best option for this role, join our internal rotation. Employer branding for their own kpis. They are applying to be a bank, don’t expect they will be much better than traditional banks, then.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at Qonto didn’t meet your expectations. We're concerned to hear that you felt your ideas weren't welcome and that you felt micromanaged, as this contradicts the culture we aim to build. Our management philosophy focuses on empowerment and development. Our aim is to build an environment where every Qontoer is encouraged to challenge assumptions and experiment so that we can create the most value to our customers and everyone can learn and grow by solving real-life problems. We've implemented a dedicated management training program (currently completed by over 50% of our active managers) and a structured skill matrix that defines clear expectations. Our bi-annual engagement surveys also help us identify and act on management issues across the organization. Your feedback shows that we still clearly have room to improve how that plays out in practice. We’re also sorry to hear that you felt stuck in your career. We want everyone at Qonto to be able to build meaningful career with us, and we'd rather grow people internally than watch them leave to find that growth elsewhere. We conduct annual Progress Reviews where every Qontoer can discuss their career trajectory with their manager. We offer both expert and manager tracks, with mobility between them. During the last cycle, 62% of our employees received promotions or salary increases across our five offices. That being said, at Qonto, career evolution is guided by business needs, so we don’t artificially create new roles or management layers unless they’re really needed. Our focus is on creating real opportunities to develop and progress, whether that means deepening expertise in the current role or exploring a new one. That's precisely why we've been actively developing internal mobility, with more than 40 internal moves already in 2026 only, to give Qontoers ways to grow across the company. We acknowledge this isn't yet where we want it to be, and we're actively working to strengthen the system. Thank you again for your feedback. Reviews like yours help us identify where we fall short and help us improve the working experience for everyone. We wish you all the best in your next professional chapter.

Hello, we are sorry that you had a poor experience of management within our teams. We do our best to avoid bad practice such as micro-management, for instance by reviewing regularly the training of our managers (many of whom come from internal promotions). We recently created two Learning & Development positions to achieve this objective and we hope this will improve all our employees’ experience!
