Great colleagues, growing pains can turn the experience sour - Consultant Q5 Employee Review

Pros

Friendly, smart, and authentic colleagues. Well intentioned leadership.

Cons

Can be political. Key progression / reward decisions are very opaque and made in a dark room (legacy of a small size organisation?). Despite good feedback culture and efforts of the HR, success remains largely determined by partners who have very little knowledge of your contribution, as opposed to those you have actually worked with. Visibility to influential partners is everything. Many are frustrated by the lack of transparency and objectivity re promotions.

Pros

Great strategic minds, great vision, cutting edge of organizational health and they truly care about their employees.

Cons

None specifically for Q5. Cons of the consulting industry as a whole...it can be stressful to be in a client service industry. Your job satisfaction often is linked to the client's culture for your day-to-day work. I feel that Q5 really stays on top of this to ensure their consultants truly enjoy their projects.

Pros

It's a good working environment that mostly gets things right when it comes to work life balance and not having to travel too much. It is an inclusive company where everyone's opinion can be aired and everyone works together to improve the company. Junior consultants will get great exposure to senior clients in ways that people wouldn't experience at other organizations until they were older.

Cons

As a growing company, Q5 is still finding its feet in some areas. This means that some internal solutions can be makeshift but there is a genuine effort to try and address these and as the company continues to grow these should be ironed out.
