Easy way to get your foot in the door in the freelance make up industry. Can be lucrative during holiday season when stores are busy and require a lot of support.
Cons
Difficult to communicate with anyone in management. Hours are not promised month-to-month and there is definite favoritism when it comes to store locations and hours allotted per artist. Some artists will have full time hours and some will only have 5 hours a week simply because of the preference of the AE. SPH goals are possible when there is good foot traffic during the busier times of the year, but slower seasons means losing your hours because there are no customers to sell to. No warning of hours being cut out of budget, you will not receive warning but instead communication will be cut off totally with no explanation. Meaning, you need to have a solid back up job if/when things don't work out. No bonus for artists who make SPH. Gratis is promised but not actually given when on goal.
