The sacrifice is that the university does not expand its services in terms of more staff. Staff are asked to do more with less. The university also does not pay as well as it could. The difference in pay is also frustrating. Mid-level supervisors will make barely more than their entry-level supervisees, but directors will make substantially more than the mid-level managers.
