Pros

Puffin is a fun, energetic startup with a promising product. The team is collaborative, hard-working, and a joy to spend time around. The company allows dogs in-office. The small team size allowed me to learn a lot and grow within my role.

Cons

Be wary of a company that touts "fun" as a benefit. Aside from the generous PTO policy, benefits are lackluster and work/life balance is not prioritized. Recent policy changes coupled with inconsistent rule enforcement across departments have created a toxic environment riddled with frustration and trust issues. Management is more concerned with employee's physical presence in-office rather than performance. Work from home policy is rigid and doesn't reflect the changing needs of the workforce. Compensation falls short of market value, and raises do little to keep up with the high cost of living in Bend.

Pros

Working at Puffin has been an outstanding experience. The company's mission resonates deeply with me, offering both a sense of purpose and direction that aligns with my personal values. Living in Bend has been an incredible opportunity, offering a work-life balance that’s hard to come by. The community spirit and the scenic beauty of the area contribute greatly to the overall quality of life. The professional and personal growth opportunities at Puffin have been abundant, with management that is genuinely invested in the employees’ development.

Cons

As with many start-ups, navigating the uncharted waters of COVID-19 presented its fair share of challenges. The pandemic tested our adaptability and resilience, as we worked to maintain our momentum and uphold our mission amidst the global uncertainty.

Pros

Brand with opportunity to grow in marketplace. Opportunity to learn many different parts of the brand, as most employees do more than their role states. Good benefits and PTO. Operationally the company is pretty sound and has SOPs decently dialed.

Cons

Majority of team has left the company in the last 6 months due to policies and lack of trust from CEO. CEO has never led a company before and is unable to make decisions for the business that will help it succeed. Salaries are well below average, and company is not hitting goals so bonuses are rarely paid out. Culture has completely fell off since CEO was hired. CEO seems to try to fix things, but not sure he is qualified to do so.
