Pros

I've only been with PS for a relatively short period of time but felt the company deserved a better report than what I've seen here in the past. In fact, the overall score and tone of reviews made me hesitate applying for this position. I'm glad I did. I knew from the interview and on-boarding process that this was the place for me. You'll meet and interview with every level of management from DM to COO before an offer can be extended. I was encouraged to continue at each step of the process, thanks to the honest dialog about the what the job entailed, and the honest feedback as I progressed through my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th interview. Even more than that, the Regional Manager (my current boss) could not have created a more warm and welcoming environment. The training program is 4 months long, during which you will be fully compensated (12 months). As a DM you'll work closely and face to face with your peers in the region. Tasks that support the group will be broken up and shared amongst the team. Your Regional Manager is close by and well connected to your business. Expectations are high, but based on attainable goals that are easily tracked. You'll be empowered to run your business and recognized for your success. I came from a Big Box retailer with a hectic and unpredictable work schedule. PS values your time and expects that you have a life outside the office. That being said, this is no different than any other email and phone connected management position. A timely response is expected to all inquiries, and emergencies do come up.

Cons

I can think of one but there is a simple solution. We are lacking in real time performance updates at times. We simply manage the behaviors proven to lead to a positive result in the absence of reporting.

Pros

Public Storage is a great place to work and grow your career. I’m surrounded by talented leaders who are supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in developing their teams. The company has a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, which creates an environment where employees can succeed and make an impact. What excites me most is that Public Storage is in a significant growth phase. It’s an energizing time to be part of the organization, with opportunities to contribute to meaningful initiatives, take on new challenges, and help shape the future of the business. The company continues to invest in its people, processes, and growth strategy, making it an excellent place for those who are looking to develop professionally while being part of a winning team. If you’re looking for a company with strong leadership, career advancement opportunities, and a clear vision for the future, Public Storage is a fantastic place to be.

Cons

Cons: As Public Storage continues to grow, the pace of the business can be very fast. There are often multiple initiatives, priorities, and opportunities happening simultaneously, which requires strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt quickly. Success in this environment depends on being able to effectively prioritize, manage competing demands, and stay focused on the highest-impact work. While the pace can be challenging at times, it also creates tremendous opportunities for growth, learning, and career development.
