Pros

I met some life long friends at propio. We all left, and we are all recovering from this place.

Cons

8+ women have been unexpectedly fired or have quit in the last year. The CEO has openly said that women on maternity leave should not expect to have the same job when they return, This "Technology company" has had 4 CTOs and 3 Product managers in the last 2 years. Interpreters are not treated as an asset. In fact, they are expected to be grateful for the opportunity to work for such a "good" company. They pay well below standard rates for interpreters. The CEO sells a startup culture with none of the start-up benefits. Employee salary, and variable compensation, are not tied to the metrics of the company, but the whim of leadership. The company cuts many corners to save money. These areas include employee compensation, internal technology, privacy and security, employee benefits. Propio still uses Microsoft access and desktop quickbooks. The 401k that is provided is not a standard 401k offered at most companies. I am not exaggerating when I say they cut corners, they limit how many coffees you can have a day.

Pros

The people here are friendly and welcoming, and everyone gets along well. Our director clearly outlines our goals, which are achievable and well-defined.

Cons

No cons at the moment.

Pros

Majority of the "boots on the ground" employees are kind, hardworking, and genuine.

Cons

The major con of working at Propio is the toxic work environment. This is a top down issue. The C-Suite is completely disorganized and ran by large egos. This trickles down to the director/manager level positions. It seems that managers were promoted based on who you are and not what you bring to the table. It is very clear there is a lack of people management training and bad habits were adopted from the C-Suite. If you are in search of a company that provides professional development, keep looking. The lack of communication, organization, and moral compass leads to a toxic work environment for those at the bottom of the totem pole. There is also a lack of diversity among leadership in both race and gender, very disappointing for a "modern language services" company.
