Pros

- Remote work is the norm. - You can easily take time off and enjoy your holidays, as the company's culture is more about leisure than actual productivity. 😊

Cons

- The company suffers from a deeply toxic culture. - The CTO, Agoston Torok, functions more as a content marketer than a true technology leader. Their blogs and Reddit presence are filled with glowing portrayals of their work environment, but in practice, the organization is severely lacking in effective people management. - The company operates with an asynchronous, remote work style. Strangely, the CTO discourages work-related discussions in Slack, viewing them as distractions. This creates an environment where collaboration and communication within the team are severely hampered. Additionally, he views discussions in GitHub pull requests as arguments rather than productive communication, insisting that PRs be merged without any meaningful dialogue over the comments. - The team leads are technically proficient but lack essential soft skills. They focus solely on coding, neglecting the well-being and professional development of the employees under their supervision. - The company fosters a culture of racial discrimination, a reality I experienced firsthand through repeated instances of bias and unfair treatment

Response from Agoston Torok, CTO Thank you for your feedback. We take all comments seriously and view them as an opportunity to reflect on our practices and make improvements where necessary. Culture and Communication: Our company prioritizes work-life balance, inclusion, personal growth, supported by processes like 360 feedback for continuous (management) improvement. It's concerning to read your experience felt different, and we are committed to ensuring our culture is experienced positively by everyone on the team. Role of the CTO: As CTO, I balance technical leadership with promoting our culture both internally and externally. We strive to ensure high consistency in what we present to the outside world and what our team experiences every day, and make sure of this through consistent monitoring and open feedback (we collect feedback from people during the selection process, during onboarding and also at a regular cadence afterwards). Communication Tools and Practices: As a remote-first company, we have implemented communication guidelines to support productivity and well-being and encourage discussions, while respecting each team member's space for focused work. We believe in autonomy and discourage excessive interruptions that can impact the focus of others, this has been misinterpreted in your feedback. Leadership and Professional Development: Our team leads regularly participate in both internal and external training/coaching sessions to enhance both their technical and soft skills. They also consistently receive high marks in internal reviews from their team. We are dedicated to supporting their continuous development in their challenging role and ensuring they provide the best leadership to their teams. Regarding Allegations of Discrimination: We take any allegations of discrimination very seriously. Our core values are against discrimination of any kind. We remain committed to fostering an inclusive workplace with our teammates coming from several countries and representing different cultures or religions, and where everyone is treated with respect. Personal Note: For me, it was particularly challenging to read your review it because it contained allegations and views about our company that were not only surprising but deeply distressing due to inaccuracies. I understand that it is always difficult to see a work-relationship end earlier than expected. I am genuinely sorry your experience was this negative and wish it could have been different. Conclusion: We wish you success and hope you find a position and company that better aligns with your expectations and strengths. Our doors remain open for any further dialogue to understand your perspective better or to discuss ways we can improve. Thank you again for your comments. We will continue to work on creating the best possible environment for all our employees.
