Pros

Project Design Consultants (PDC) provides the opportunity to work on landmark projects typically reserved for national or international firms while still maintaining the family feel and culture of a local, mid-sized design firm. Although I won't discount the experiences of the previous employees who left reviews in 2015, their experience does not match mine while I have been an employee here at PDC. I would also be curious as to when these previous employees worked for our firm. Most of our satellite offices were closed as part of the Great Recession of 2008-2009, and the local land development industry was decimated during this period. I started at PDC in 2001 and voluntarily left the company to pursue personal interests and international travel during the recession. I was enthusiastically welcomed back in 2010. In my view, PDC has always treated me fairly when it comes to compensation, and we have above industry average benefits. More importantly, PDC has provided me with opportunities for professional growth and advancement. I started my career here as an Assistant Civil Engineer. Now that I am in management, I can attest that our firm's philosophy is to grow and promote from within whenever possible. We also definitely do not hire employees during spikes in our workload only to discard them during leaner times. In fact, we recognize our firm is nothing without our talented employees. Clients do not come to us because of our computer hardware or office furniture. PDC does not produce widgets for sale. We provide quality professional design services that rely almost exclusively on the skills, experience, and talents of our employees, and I think we do a great job of recognizing that. That is one of the reasons why so many of our current employees have celebrated their 10, 15, 20, and 20+ year anniversaries. And it is why we have had very little turnover with our more recent hires of the next generation of engineers, planners, surveyors, and landscape architects. We're growing, and we are always looking for talented prospective new members of our team. If you a seeking a firm where you can work on interesting, complex, and award winning projects, if you are seeking a firm that recognizes and rewards personal motivation and responsibility, if you are seeking a firm where you are surrounded by talented colleagues and senior staff who are there to support you and impart the knowledge they have gained over their careers, if you are seeking a firm where you are not just a corporate I.D. number, has a family atmosphere, and understands the importance of having a balance between your professional and personal lives, then please consider the opportunities that Project Design Consultants can offer.

Cons

Although we have had many years of growth since the Great Recession, land development engineering is a field that is impacted by the economic climate at the time. We are always looking to diversify our client base and sources of revenue as a bulwark against downturns in the industry.

Pros

Fair wages, good benefits, team atmosphere, advancement opportunity - ability to switch to a different job and exercise a different skill set without leaving your desk.

Cons

Change happens slowly, upper management support is lacking, poor communication and support from corporate office with satellite offices.
