The Most Comedically Awful Experience of My Professional Career - Senior Commercial Finance Manager ProPharma Group Employee Review

Pros

I initially found the salary to be relatively competitive (though annual merit increases are comparatively below the industry standard). Most lower-level co-workers and mid-level managers are decent.

Cons

Sadly, there are far too many to mention, so I'll share the greatest hits... - Upper-level management is absolutely abysmal. There is no clear corporate direction, culpability, transparency, or cultural identity. These aspects would normally be expected to form at the top of the managerial chain, but not here. Nepotism and favoritism trump reason and shared benefit, particularly among the Pharmacovigilance department. It's no wonder that their team has shrunk substantially since my onboarding several years ago. Compounding their ineptitude is their complete unwillingness to take responsibility for systemic failures and unrealistic performance expectations. - Turnover is the worst I have ever seen. In my years at ProPharma, I have never experienced a time frame where there wasn't rampant layoffs, walkouts, and questionable terminations. To call it tumultuous would be an understatement. Employee loyalty and performance seem to be of little consequence relevant to one's ability to gain a semblance of job security. Each day feels like waking up in a war zone where your number might be up for little to no reason. - There is literally zero job training...at least not in my case. Corporate-level training modules are largely irrelevant and exist only to satisfy regulatory audits by outside industry entities. Department-level and role-specific training is virtually non-existent. - As previously mentioned, annual merit increases are minimal and bonus incentives are either unreachable by design or align with seemingly arbitrary performance goals. I could go on, but I think you get the picture. My advice would be to seriously consider my words (and the cornucopia of similar reviews by others) when considering employment opportunities with ProPharma. This place is a toxic, disjointed, unpleasant, unstructured version of what a real CRO is supposed to be (*or RCO...they can never make up their minds about what they want to be).

Pros

There are not many pros, depending on which group you align with. Sales leadership is misaligned.

Cons

Pay scale is low considering the amount of work they would like you to do, extremely competitive between team members, and they love to micro-manage.
