Pros

- bright, hard-working peers and important mission - a lot of autonomy and opportunity to make an impact in your role - you'll get to do and learn a lot of things, and interact with a vast network - diverse staff from different professional and life backgrounds - poeple try to help each other out and are generous about sharing expertise - good benefits, generous PTO and remote/flex work options

Cons

- while others work to build a positive culture, the Executive Director often sets a poor tone that can permeate the workplace and create unncessary stress - strategies can shift as new projects come in the door, in an evolving tech environment - like many nonprofits, most staff are at capacity

Pros

You get to help low-income and vulnerable populations of NY with various legal issues remotely at home.

Cons

You'd have to deal with many chat boxes simultaneously and visitors to the website want your quick attention to the matter.

Pros

Your daily work directly impacts the lives of others in positive ways Coworkers are kind and caring Office in great location (midtown) Company has successfully avoided layoffs, even in tough economic times Corporate culture is lenient with mistakes and focuses more on learning Room for growth & opportunities to learn more about many areas

Cons

Management not fit to lead teams; seriously lacking interpersonal skills Managers have been unprofessional in handling conflict & stressful work situations Management problems are systemic across the company Most employees are unhappy but continue to stay because the work is rewarding Yearly performance reviews do not happen here; raises are few and far between Salaries are SEVERELY underpaid (even for non-profits, this is still a well-funded tech start-up) Despite the social justice corp mission, company is led by and favors educated white males Company has ambitious goals but lacks discipline to stay focused & timely with corp. goals
