Pros
The children, although it’s abundantly clear they do not want to be there, teaching them was a pleasure.
Cons
The management - the most unprofessional management I have ever worked under. Too many reasons to be comprehensive, but they have their favourites (usually family members or those of a similar race/religion), do not speak English at work (which is uncomfortable if you only speak English), cut your hours without notice, will basically make your life a living hell until you leave. Training - UNPAID TRAINING!!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH, THEY WILL EXPECT YOU TO TRAIN YOUR FIRST 24 HOURS WITHOUT PAY. The training is useless, rushed, and very inconvenient in terms of location. Learning materials - the kids are given a book that you can buy online and told to fill it out. Any materials from the company itself is written in very bad English (often confusing students). Pay - disgustingly low wages considering tutors get paid loads elsewhere. DBS - they make you pay for your own DBS. That’s if they ever apply for it for you - I went my entire employment without one (questionably illegal?) Will lie about hours you work, underpay you consistently so that you have to chase them for your money and you will never receive a payslip.
