Pros

Caring owners Passionate employees Excellent benefits package Fair operating procedures Flexible Scheduling Paid overtime for most positions DBE status helps the company win cool projects. The company is growing ambitiously - lots of opportunity to create the career you want. Lots of opportunities for an employee to move upward. Ownership makes an effort to listen to employees and tailor opportunities to support personal career goals. Owners are great people, competent, compassionate. The bring excitement to the workplace. Owners & leadership make an effort to foster a sense of connectedness among employees, and it works.

Cons

There are fast and slow periods. The fast periods are tough - work can become overwhelming at times. But these periods are becoming easier to manage as the company has gotten larger & therefore has cultured more redundancy in employee knowledge. Company has also developed more sophisticated procedures for managing the workload in recent years, which has helped the effect on individual employees.

Pros

A lot of companies are pushing people back into the office, but Prairie Engineers still puts a real emphasis on work life balance with a hybrid setup and the option for remote work. It can take a little more effort to stay connected in that kind of environment, but for most people it’s a trade off that’s worth it. Prairie Engineers is a growing small business, so there’s definitely change happening and things can feel less structured at times. Some people might prefer a company where roles and processes have been set for years. But if you like a more dynamic environment and enjoy being part of something that’s still taking shape, this is a good place to be.

Cons

When a small business grows and starts finding success, things change. Adaptation isn’t easy and that pace doesn’t work for everyone.
