Pros

I worked as a clerk at Power Rogers (& Smith) a few years ago. It was great experience working on large, complex multi-milliondollar cases that you wouldn't be able to work on pretty much anywhere else. Good pay (for a clerk at least) Looks good on a resume!

Cons

The attorneys are not focused on the law clerks whatsoever (which is understandable as they are busy people and there to do their jobs). They simply give you work to do and expect you to return an assignment before a deadline and wont give you feedback on your work. Otherwise they are not interested in you as a person or your interests in the field of law. I wish the clerks had a more active role in their jobs (ex: attending trials, depositions, other hearings...) other than writing and research for the lawyers. If you are looking for a job then do not bother clerking here because they wont hire you (unless you are a relative of one of the partners). I noticed that this year (2021) was the first time in over a decade that they did not come in 1st place in Chicago for settlements/verdicts. Perhaps this is in response to some of the concerns I have addressed above? I would suggest they should add some new hardworking talent including some of their law clerks that are hard workers and have a genuine interest in Plaintiff's Personal Injury law.
