Pros
I worked as a consultant for a client of Populus. I sourced the position myself and then was W2 through Populus. Minimal benefits as would be expected for a position such as this but access to a 401k and consistent payroll which is what I needed.
Cons
No serious negatives other than they messed up my last paycheck as I was rolling off the contract and did not deduct for 401k which messed up my cadence of contributions for the year. That could have been handled better. Because they are captive to the client, you have to run them down for things, they don't check up on you.
