Pros

I was a full time student who had just received his Bachelor's degree. With no real work experience in an office setting, my supervisor hired me base on my character and my willingness to learn. During my 3 years there, I was taught many things that enabled me to now become a senior accountant. Management really encourages and helps their employees to build their resume at Poolmaster. If you wanted to further your education, they will also help with that (as long as your position at Poolmaster can benefit from that education). If you are challenged at public speaking, they'll encourage you to join Toastmasters so that you can become a better speaker/presenter. They did me one better, and allowed our Toastmasters group (who were looking for a place to conduct their meetings) to meet at Poolmasters! Quite a few other employees also took part as well. Good team morale there. Lots of employee events and incentives. They have employees that have been there for 20+ years!

Cons

Not really any promotional positions due to the company being small, so eventually you'll have to move on. I did received raises every year that I was there, all over the normal 5%!

Pros

This could be a great fit for the right person! The owners are very sweet and the staff is overall very caring and inclusive.

Cons

I just had a very akward experience. It ended up being a job that could have gone a lot smoother if there was more of an investment in technology. My manager and I just didn’t have any type of connection and it was strange to me being a very social and happy person. I was gaslit for simple tasks and made to think I am stupid (even though I have a college degree and now masters). I’ll list a few of my favorite lines: “Oh I’m SCARED to give this to you to finish” “These products come from the Orient” “You were my second choice the first time you interviewed” “This shouldn’t take you more that a few minutes!” (Based on a spreadsheet with hundreds of items I was still not familiar with as a new employee-yeah it was hours for me not minutes.) :( Yeah.....just really akward statements that made me feel really uncomfortable. This particular manager decided to go on vacation before giving proper directions on a huge project I kept having struggles with because I wasn’t properly trained on her way of doing it. For the right type A personality I’m sure it would have been fine. I’m just too old to put up with a disrespectful human and now I am very happy somewhere corporate. The pay was terrible for this type of position as well.
