Company doesn't care about employees. We're just cogs in the machine. - Software Engineer Podium Employee Review

Pros

The tech stack is new, and it's great working on it.

Cons

Podium doesn't pay competitively, even though they say they do. They try to justify the stock purchases (Not even grants) as being worth so much in the future that they don't need to pay well now. Podium isn't public yet, has no timeline on that, and the purchase price for most employees is considerably higher than the current value. So the stock is worth absolutely nothing, since if they ever go public I could just buy the stock cheaper. If you are looking somewhere else that gives you literally ANY money in stock, then you'll come out ahead. The company recently took away our 401K match, and when a lot of us mentioned that this felt like a 4% paycut, we were told that 'Not every company does a 401k match, so you shouldn't be complaining'. Podium doesn't really have any office perks, or outside of work perks. There just really isn't anything other than the salary (which is under market even now) that could be looked at as a plus. Podium doesn't have much job security. CEO makes decisions on whims with what feels like no thought or discussion. If he decides that your product isn't worth pursuing, you get axed. Out of the blue he decided that all remote employees within 50 miles have to start coming into the office, and when people said that they took this job specifically because it was remote, he basically just said "Well other people have to drive to work, so now you do too". Definitely don't apply here if you're within that radius, unless you want to have to spend more time than your remote counterparts, and spend more money on gas, vehicle, and food, with absolutely no difference in benefits or pay (Although you are more than welcome to buy food at their cafe for not very good prices). I wouldn't be surprised if they axe all remote employees in a year or two as well. This is definitely going to hurt diversity, as it means all the Utah County people (One of the least diverse counties in the nation) are going to be sequestered off from everyone else around the nation/globe. The culture here is extremely toxic, if you say anything negative about the company or what the company is doing, you get canned. They even go so far as if someone has worked here previously, they have to meet with the CEO as the final approval to get re-hired, and if you don't absolutely rave about Podium, he says no. Every poor decision has been met with "If you don't like it, then leave" which is a horrible mentality for a company to have, and it's going to bite them. Podium used to be great, but I think they must be on their way out with the way they've been handling things. I wouldn't recommend their product, and I absolutely wouldn't recommend working here anymore and have told that to past coworkers asking about job listings here.

Pros

Cool office building, learn from some of the best sales reps you’ll come across in your career

Cons

I worked at podium for a few years. It was the most toxic sales culture I’ve ever experienced. I do not say that lightly It was worth the money a year/two plus ago. They raised quotas multiple times in the last year and decreased the commission percentages. It is wild how many hoops an ae had to jump through to close a deal. In my 7+ of being in sales it was probably the hardest sale to close and I was a top rep. If you want to join podium it could be a good learning experience but it will come with a lot of headaches, anxiety about job security (they pip sales reps out like no other company I’ve ever worked for) and maybe some tears
