Pros

There are some very talented, good people at Podium. The CS team is phenomenal. The product has potential, but is really only a good fit for small business.

Cons

Narrowly and aggressively focused on sales: The executive team at Podium cares about one thing, and one thing only: hitting monthly sales numbers. They are very willing to sacrifice everything to hit those numbers including the employee and customer experience. Attempting to provide the kind of customer experience that leads to renewal and retention is like trying to push a boulder uphill with the sales executives and CEO providing the resistance. The hyper pressure put on sales reps to hit numbers results in a toxic environment where people will throw coworkers under the bus to preserve their job. Arrogance and Bro Culture: If you’ve read other reviews here, you know this is a repeating theme. Believe it- I wish I had. If BYU had a frat house, Podium would be it. The misogynistic arrogance starts at the top and filters down through the ranks. Bottom line: If you enjoy working in door to door or high pressure sales jobs, Podium is the place for you. If you are motivated by building great customer relationships and helping companies use technology to meet their goals, don’t come to Podium.

Pros

Cool office building, learn from some of the best sales reps you’ll come across in your career

Cons

I worked at podium for a few years. It was the most toxic sales culture I’ve ever experienced. I do not say that lightly It was worth the money a year/two plus ago. They raised quotas multiple times in the last year and decreased the commission percentages. It is wild how many hoops an ae had to jump through to close a deal. In my 7+ of being in sales it was probably the hardest sale to close and I was a top rep. If you want to join podium it could be a good learning experience but it will come with a lot of headaches, anxiety about job security (they pip sales reps out like no other company I’ve ever worked for) and maybe some tears
