Pros
-You can become a VP of Anything if Saeed likes you -Free lunch kinda helps for everyone else
Cons
Plug and Play is an ideal place to work for a few kinds of people: -New graduates or other youngsters without much experience who want to get into VC -Men who are incredibly social and wildly overconfident, but whose limited talent would otherwise hold them back in a reasonable workplace -Anyone who can negotiate and stay comfortable with their particular benefits/headaches ratio-- it's possible to be well-paid for not that much work, but there's no system and this mainly applies to sales roles New grads, get in there and learn some skills and get some contacts and get out. Don't stay more than 2 years-- Plug and Play's reputation will not help you and the dysfunctional workplace patterns will become habits if you stay too long. For everyone else, I'd strongly evaluate how much you need a job or a foot in the VC door before you do it. Particularly if you are coming in for an operations type role! If you are in the running for anything in HR, Legal, Accounting, etc., you will absolutely be paid the bare minimum for an insane workload with no support or acknowledgement from above. This was my experience in an operations role, if you couldn't tell from the tone. Every single team in the company was evaluated and structured based on their potential to bring in money-- even the IT team had to do sales (and subsequently were so strapped for time that essential functions were compromised). Since we weren't generating cash, my team was perpetually about five hires behind our actual workload, and any meager standards or processes we struggled to put in place would be flagrantly and, indeed, delightedly ignored by whatever baby-faced charm machine happened to need something that day. In terms of management, the Plug and Play CEO is essentially a cruise director in a hierarchically ambiguous ocean of twenty-four-year-old "VPs." There is no structure, no standards, and no incentive whatsoever to be collaborative with your coworkers or conduct yourself in a rational way. No one will ever be fired. One final note: considering that Plug and Play is supposed to be an accelerator for innovative tech, the tech situation is appalling. In 2+ years of trying, I was never able to successfully implement any modern solution that could at least slightly mitigate my team's crushing workload. In the year of our lord 2018, Plug and Play (per the marching orders of the CEO) was still unable to send money electronically, use digital signing services, or utilize any software more sophisticated than an Excel spreadsheet to track incredibly important and confidential data.
