Pros

Developers are relatively friendly. Free snacks. Some of the PM's are talented and helpful. Work life balance is ok. They rarely ask for overtime.

Cons

No real benefits besides pay (snacks and massages are relatively useless compared to RRSP matching and healthcare) Every second must be tracked using their timer, it is relatively automatic but still a pain. Some of the PM's are not at all helpful and can be very overbearing. Salary for new hires is abysmal compared to other companies Have to time out to go to the washroom They don't trust their employees very much (as is evidenced by their work timer, PM attitude, and bathroom policy) Not much social interaction between employees - although they were trying to fix this while I was there. They have a building full of empty offices yet they put 3 developers in each office. They do not let you change where you sit or move your monitor as the layout lets management walk by and ensure that you are working. No training or education provided short of learning on the job, which is discouraged as it may slow down a project. Their required hours is convuluted at best. They tell you that you only need to work 37.5 hours, but the timer gets mad at you if you are not in the offiice for at least 8.25 hours a day on Monday through Friday.

Pros

Support from colleagues was the only bright spot. Coworkers were always willing to step in and help when needed. Even while busy, stressed, and exhausted, the team still tried to make time to step out and unwind together.

Cons

- Be absolutely certain about the role you are signing up for, because every detail matters and contracts are used as traps with no escape. - Outrageous tactics are used to gain leverage over everything and everyone, including employees. - Tasks far outside the actual role can be forced without warning or discussion. - Pay increases can be blocked for years simply because it is written into the contract. - Extreme caution is required at all times to avoid being cornered and stuck. - Any action can be twisted into something that keeps employees powerless. - Sneaky, conniving, and unethical behavior is used to deceive and lie for advantage, both in business and in how employees are treated.
