Pros

You only have to work 4 days because they can't afford to pay you for 5.

Cons

Everything! There is not one thing positive about this company. I would say some of the employee's but that would be lie considering it is a revolving door and anyone smart or with any integrity would leave. Everyone backs stabs each other and you can't trust a single soul. So if you like a hostel environment where it feels like someone died, or like getting mistreated and yelled at by the Owner for no reason beside the fact he is coming down from a high, this is the perfect place for you. I have never been so belittled at a company which is so sad considering this company is in the children industry. The owner yells at his employees and has no respect for anyone especially women. He abuses them in every aspect. Everyone that gets hired thinks they will be the ones to change everything and become disappointed within a couple months of working here. This place is a sinking ship and the owner will get what is coming to him because Karma will come back to get him. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. EVEN IF YOU ARE DESPERATE THIS IS NOT WORTH IT.

Pros

The key to working here is communicating with the owner. Don't hide your mistakes, because the owner actually works here as an employee. He breathes, eats and sleeps with Playhut. He doesn't like to micro-manage, but he does prefer to know updates on what he hired you for. If you prove that you are trustworthy, he will take care of you. The dress code is casual and the schedule is relaxed, so long as you communicate your schedule changes to HR and the owner (and not sneak in or out: Big pet peeve for the owner.) Owner respects time off for family issues.

Cons

The kind of personality that works out well at Playhut: Communicative (doesn't have to be verbal, but communicative enough so that the owner knows what your accomplishments are for the benefit of his business.) Someone who is comfortable working near a passionate owner who tends to yell no matter what he is feeling (happy, excited, frustrated, disappointed etc.), Be able to pick up on training right away, by being proactive, taking notes etc. Someone with integrity: Having the ability to step up to the plate when making a mistake and working with the owner to find a solution for that problem. Someone with no fear! Someone innovative: owner doesn't like to stay behind with technology. But that person also must be frugal and intelligent with spending company funds. This is not a fortune 500 corporation. This is a small business with 30-40 employees total including designers, product managers, accounting, production, sales licensing, warehouse workers and sample sewing machine clerks. The owner is no nonsense, very perceptive and picks up on BS. This can make people very angry, when confronted. It's not your typical place to work, but def ok with me, even with the bad days.
