Pros

Good colleagues, straight forward job

Cons

I started the job few weeks ago and was told a week before the students school holiday that they think i am not suitable for their centre setting and gave me a notice period of 5 days. Honestly felt very disappointed and upset because firstly i just started and i am given the class that every teacher says that they are difficult to handle. Wasn’t given any feedback on how i can improve because i would definitely understand if they say i am not suitable after giving me feedback and still no changes from me. I don’t know what i did wrongly, for all i know i follow their policy and their methods that was told to me. I may have experience working with children but as mentioned in the interview they were preschool so my knowledge on class management to preschool students will not be the same. To add on, even if the colleagues are all nice they are not as family like and as team like as any other company i have worked with.

Pros

- Low student: teacher ratio as compared to school based - Shorter working day if the students have CCAs, remedials or long days in school

Cons

- Students are not disciplined, generally don't have manners, noisy and screaming in the classes as well as during basic routines like lining up - Clear cliques within teachers either according to race or seniority, English is always not the common language used. - No support given from higher ups such as manager/supervisor or director. Thrown into the job from the first day and they expect you to get the routines and workflow immediately. - Too much expectations on the worksheets - Salary and the workload does not justify each other. For an organisation that is supposedly 'premium' they can afford to pay the teachers more for the responsibilities given.

Pros

- lunch is provided and lunch hour is paid - kids are fun to talk to

Cons

- very micro managing - low salary even for full timers - expects you to come in 20 mins early to open the school, unpaid for - when bringing up problems to boss, you will be left on read - bosses can be quite nosy - workload is heavy for the amount paid - expected to tutor and take care of 20 students at the same time - crazy amount of work to bring home and do, also unpaid for - managers will text you on off days / after work and expect replies. - no career progression // salary increase when you do more work
