Pros

Taking new products to market - transforming the business for next revenue hits. After aquisition, company lost focus on initiative, and didn't do anything to help transition team to new opportunities to match skillset

Cons

Lack of management following through on commitments.

Pros

Platform always paid my salary, commission, expenses as agreed. They provided a stable work environment and gave the opportunity work on several challenging projects over the 10+ years I worked there.

Cons

They don't give raises so as time goes by your real income decreases. They don't seem to value long-term employees, instead they think you're long-term because you don't have enough value to go elsewhere, They also don't promote from within very often.

Pros

IBM has some great benefits, an internal jobs market and still has many brilliant people. The work/life balance is pretty good.

Cons

The fundamental problem is that the main products are coming to the end of their commercial life, the clients have mostly either bought the Platform product or their main competitor's product. The management changes direction and accounts around so often that sales specialists just learn about one account and then are moved on to another so there is weak continuity. At a global level management works very hard at building virtual teams to make the proposition stronger, this is not mirrored in Europe. IBM is going through yet another round of lay-offs which creates a political environment with everyone covering their own backs.
