Pros
You get to spend a lot of time with dogs, and most of the customers are very nice
Cons
This isn’t a cage free daycare like they claim. The owner locks the dogs up in crates and closets at night. I understand that all small businesses are struggling right now and the owner is under a lot of stress because he has to work basically 24-7 after laying off most of his staff, but there is zero excuse for the way he treats the poor dogs there. They are living beings!! It’s a big responsibility. I usually worked morning shifts. The first thing I would do when I got there was feed all of the dogs that had just spent the night. When I arrived each morning, the dogs would be in the play rooms. I never actually saw the dogs in the sleep room, but I just assumed he took them out every morning before I got there. But one morning while I was feeding the dogs I noticed one of them was missing.... the owner left right when I got there to run errands or something and I couldn’t get ahold of him. I searched all over the facility and couldn’t find her anywhere, and I started to worry that she escaped somehow (because I heard that happened before). Then I heard muffled barking coming from inside the storage room, and I discovered her locked up inside of a crate that was placed inside of a small closet. The crate was covered with foam dog beds and a weighted blanket as if he was trying to muffle the noise of her barking. It was pitch black and SO HOT in there. It was filthy, smelled like urine, and the plastic crate had bite marks all over it like the dogs in there were trying to eat their way out. You could tell that many dogs had been put in there before. I wish I could post pictures on here. One of my coworkers arrived shortly after and I showed her. We discovered more crates inside another closet and in two storage sheds. We took videos and pictures to report it to the ASPCA, but the reports didn’t get us anywhere because there are minimal laws regulating the way dogs are treated in boarding facilities. The law basically just requires them to provide food and shelter, that’s it. Obviously we both quit, but I still worry about those dogs every single day. It HAUNTS me knowing that I worked at a place that, in my opinion, abused animals. We had no idea. The owner is kind of odd but he seemed like he liked dogs. Clearly he does NOT. If you love dogs not work here or support this establishment in any way.
