Pros

I have grown a lot while working at Pixelcarve. It's party because of the projects that we get to work on and partly because the owners care so much about pushing the boundaries and creating something unique and beautiful every time. Working under the Creative leadership of Ryan has opened my eyes to entirely new ways of thinking about design and layout. The team here is wonderful. I love working with everyone, they are all so positive and happy to help and work together solving problems. The culture here is very unique, I guess maybe because it's a family owned business, but you really feel like family more than an employee. I've heard others say this too. The working hours are flexible, the perks are generous, the bar is always open, and it really helps us do awesome work. Since being here I've been directly involved with creating over a dozen large websites. We do run at a break neck speed, but our project manager is pretty hardcore and I can't even tell you the satisfaction we all have when a website launches on schedule and it's even better than the client had ever imagined. Even the team regularly gets thank you's from the clients, that's something I've never experienced before at any other company. Just yesterday I was brought into a meeting with a client so they could acknowledge me. Wow! Then I got back to my desk and there was a $50 Timmies card waiting for me.

Cons

Because the team feels like family it can take too long to fire people who aren't a good fit. Curtis and Ryan can get too invested in the people they hire. We did have a few people working here in the past who had a bad attitude, including one with a temper who was very unpleasant to be around. The owners spent too long trying to help them, and it would have been much better to fire them more quickly. But they're all gone now, and it's a much better experience :)

Pros

My internship at Pixelcarve could not have been better. The entire team was absolutely fantastic, they were professional, kind and always happy to give their time to help me when I needed it. In particular, the two partners (Curtis and Ryan Priest) were amazing. Despite their busy schedules, they were always happy to set aside time to educate, inform or even just have a chat. I can say with 100% certainty that they both taught me things, both professional and personal, that I will carry with me throughout my career. Aside from the absolutely amazing team, the company is a best-in-class organisation. They conduct their work efficiently and to an unparalleled standard; it was truly a pleasure to work in such an environment, and with such impressive clients. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better experience and learnt a huge amount in 3 short months. I am hugely grateful to Curtis and Ryan who were not only great during my internship, but were super helpful when it came time for me to move on and look for a new role. In summary, Pixelcarve is an excellent company, made up of great people, doing fantastic work.

Cons

I experienced nothing negative during my time with the company.

Pros

Pixelcarve is an amazing place to work because both the work and the culture constantly strive to be the best. Every team member works collaboratively to create projects that are unique, beautiful, award winning, and set new industry standards. It’s a thrill to produce this calibre of work, and it’s incredibly fulfilling and great for your resume and portfolio. I have been working here for many years and the culture has always been progressive, inclusive, diverse, friendly, but also fast paced and action packed. The management is open and friendly, they encourage regular team meetings, learning sessions, thought-leadership, and problem solving. They have the typical agency perks including a fully stocked bar, gaming consoles, big screens, flex-hours, etc. but the real stand-out is the work, and the people – honestly, the people that I get to work with every day are among the most talented I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I learn so much from everyone every day, and they learn from me. I very highly recommend Pixelcarve to anyone who wants to produce world-class work at a leading digital agency.

Cons

Sometimes clients aren't as progressive as we are, and occasionally hold us back from publishing our best work. But management does their best to mitigate this as much as possible.
