Pros
- You will meet good people who will help you grow and actually teach you.
- Senior artists and prods do guide you.
- Projects are cool
- Free lunch is nice
- Office is cozy
Unfortunately that's it :(
Cons
Office politics are rampant here, most especially favoritism. If you aren't on the good side of upper management, better start smooching. Smooching = drinking with upper management. Upper management is quick to "wash hands" and put blame on either middle level management or the employee, which ultimately leads to the person resigning.
Culture has definitely shifted during my time here. Its gone from a nurturing, cool game dev culture to a corporate 'hr focused' atmosphere. Transparency is absent. People are given NTEs when it comes to poor performance instead of PIPs. And when they leave, upper management says they resigned or even terminated - how convenient.
Miscommuncation alongside lack of transparency. There are no proper procedures when it comes to assessments and the whole shift to NTEs. No clear paths on what the different artist levels mean, or what is expected of. Middle management lacks training which again is convenient when upper management washes their hands.
I love how inspiring it is to see upper management (hr included) drinking with the bosses in their offices while us low level employees do OT to catch up with work. FCF is a joke its more like Forced Fun, forcing us to OT so we can catch up on wasted time.
As stated in my title, come for the projects, stay for the people. You will meet cool people here and learn from them. But that's it. Pay is low.
I loved working here and was excited for new artists to join, but now I feel bad for them.
