Pros
Great kids, lots of room to be creative, a real sense of community. I felt like I made a difference here.
Cons
A conversation about "White people" experiencing the most racism, sexual harrassment, management saying "poor people don't think the way that we do", jokes about abortion, adoption, rape, literal temper tantrums... all within my first two weeks of being here. In my 15 years of professional experience I had never encountered so many unprofessional occurrences. The pay isn't worth it. Managers expect you to do work that they themselves are incapable of--and then will tell you that you're doing it wrong. If you're passionate about helping your community, there are plenty of other places to do it... that pay better.
